03 / THE BAND

ROCK.
WITH SOUL.

The name might sound sad.
The music doesn’t.

Sad Men’s Soul: Rock from Bern. Big guitars, driving rhythms and songs with a rough edge.

Music for everyone who turns it up at the first riff. For nights in front of the stage. And for that feeling when everything else stands still for a moment.

SAD MEN’S SOUL
Colin Hay, vocals, seated in a leather armchair

Colin Hay

Vocals

The only one of us with a proper musical education. Knows what he wants and wants what he knows. Our youngest. With the most stage experience.

Probably plays more gigs with his other bands than with us. Yet with us, he has no voice left by the end of the set.

Steve Winzenried, drums, seated in a leather armchair

Steve Winzenried

Drums

Of course he can read music too. Even if the notes look strange to the other musicians. He’s not a musician, after all. He’s a drummer. Very, very solid for decades.

His drum kit changes so often that we’d have to keep starting this bit from scratch. He’s played pretty much every brand and tries a new one before every rehearsal. Preferably from a flea market. And at gigs, he often ends up playing someone else’s kit anyway.

Raff Mc Duff, bass, seated in a leather armchair

Raff Mc Duff

Bass

The one with the four fat strings. Used to be able to read music. Doesn’t really matter that much in our band. C, D, E, F, G, A, B; and if necessary, semitones too. Very, very precise, though. By the way, he joined us without a beard. It really was that long ago.

Plays big, fat Fender and Gibson basses through big, fat Ampeg amps.

Fatpat Jones, guitars, seated in a leather armchair

Fatpat Jones

Guitars

Six strings. And really can’t read music. Started making music with Steve sometime in the eighties.

Plays Gibson Les Paul models and Siggi Braun Signature guitars, as well as Diezel and Mesa Boogie amps and Quad Cortex.
